The Turner Valley School of Biblical Studies is set in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Turner Valley is a great place to study the Bible because it offers the quiet of small town life yet the amenities of the city and the adventure of the wilderness are nearby.
 The small town, family atmosphere of YWAM Turner Valley and our desire to celebrate individuals and champion them in their giftings and callings has led to a focus on mentorship and hospitality within SBS. As much as possible we want to aid in the process of transformation that God does during nine months of Bible study. We want to get involved in the lives of our students and show them we care. We love to celebrate birthdays, have fun together at special events or just chat over a cup of coffee. While we want students to understand the whole of scripture and be equipped for a lifetime of Bible study, and we work hard to this end, more importantly we want students to be transformed by the Word. With this goal in mind we look for one-on-one opportunities to speak into people’s lives and walk with them through this process.
YWAM Turner Valley and the School of Biblical Studies also want to equip individuals to go to the Unreached. YWAM Turner Valley is focused on reaching the Shan people of Burma. During their time at Turner Valley SBS students become familiar with who the Shan are, their situation and opportunities for prayer and ministry. SBS students are challenged to share what they have been given in their nine months of study by going to the Shan. We have sent several SBS teams to northern Thailand to minister to Shan people living there. Opportunities to do evangelism, teach the Bible, and serve in practical ways provide SBS students with the practical experience needed to complete the learning process that began in the classroom.
We love to watch God work in students lives as they dig into God’s Word and in whatever way possible we want to be there to encourage growth and challenge individuals to LIVE the Word.
