SBS is going Down Under! The School of Biblical Studies starts February 8, 2010 in Canberra, Australia. Located on the north end of Australia’s capital city, YWAM in Canberra has the benefits of city-life and yet is within walking distance of scenic bush trails, which are also enjoyed and frequented by kangaroos. YWAM in Canberra has a focus on both local community outreach and frontier missions with three unreached people groups in South-East Asia. YWAM Canberra has a broad focus on Australia and the Asia-pacific region, with specific projects that it supports such as a building project in East-Timor and Counseling ministries in Japan. The School of Biblical Studies at this location seeks to embrace the vision of the base as well as uphold the international standards of SBS. Our hope is that each student that comes through will leave with a love and high regard for the word of God as well as a comprehensive overview of each book, type of literature and an understanding of the overall purpose of scripture. We also seek to equip them with an understanding of how to study the Bible inductively with the goal of personal transformation and to equip them for whatever ministry or sphere of society God directs them to. SBS in Australia is unique in that it is recognized by the Australian government as a Diploma of Biblical Studies (36 U of N Credits will also be received upon completion), this means that Australian students may apply for Government Assistance.
