Detailed Information regading Seminars and Modules

Biblical Studies Seminar: (CCM 514)

A three week seminar similar to the first three weeks of CCM 311, School of Biblical Studies.

The subjects that will be covered are:
a. Introduction to the Inductive Bible Study Approach
b. Introduction to the Bible
c. Introduction to the Gospels
d. Introduction to Paul and the Epistles

The books that will be studied are:
a. Philemon
b. Galatians
c. Gospel of Mark

After completing this course the students should have an overview of the books covered, an understanding of the historical background of these books and discovered practical Biblical principles from these books that they can apply in their lives.

Prerequisites:
Discipleship Training School
Credits: (3-4)

Note: Credit may not be received for this and CCM 311

School of Biblical Studies - Module 1: (CCM 311)

This course is the first in a series of three taught in the School of Biblical Studies. Through this course the student will be able to do a survey of the books of the Bible by answering three basic questions:

a. What does the text say?
b. What did the text mean to the original readers?
c. How can I apply the text to my own life?

This bible study approach teaches the student in three skills: observing, interpreting and applying the Biblical text.

The subjects that will be covered are:
a. The first three weeks identical as Biblical Studies Seminar:
b. Introduction to the Inductive Bible Study Approach
c. Introduction to the Bible
d. Introduction to the New Testament
e. Introduction to the Gospels
f. Introduction to the Apostle Paul and the Epistles
g. Introduction to Hebrew Poetry


The books that will be covered are:
Philemon, Galatians, Gospel of Mark, 1+2 Thessalonians, Philippians, Gospel of Luke, Acts, 1+2Timothy, Titus, Romans, Ephesians, Colossians, 1+2 Corinthians, Matthew, Hebrews, Psalms 1-40

Prerequistites:
IDS 701 and 702 or IDS 703 and 704
Credits: (12)

Note: this course is not open to students who have received credit for CCM 301.

School of Biblical Studies New Testament Completion Seminar: (CCM 515)

A seminar identical to the first 3-4 weeks of CCM 312. This course is for those who would like to finish the inductive study of the New Testament after completing CCM 311

The subjects that will be covered are:
a. Inductive Bible Study Approach
b. How to do a Bible Study

The books that will be covered are:
1+2 Peter, Jude, James, Gospel of John, 1-3 John, Revelation, Psalms 1-40

Prerequistites:

CCM 311
Credits: (3-4)

Note: Credit may not be received for both the CCM 515 and for 312

School of Biblical Studies - Module 2: (CCM 312)

This course is the second in a series of three of the School of Biblical Studies and gives a continuation and completion of the inductive study of the New Testament books, plus the Old Testament books from Genesis to 2 Kings.

The subjects that will be covered are:
Identical to School of Biblical Studies NT Completion Seminar (CCM 515)
a. Inductive Bible Study Approach
b. How to do a Bible Study


The books that will be covered (New Testament):
1+2 Peter, Jude, James, The Gospel of John, 1-3 John, Revelation

Subjects to be covered (cont.):
c. Introduction to Old Testament
d. Introduction to Pentateuch
e. Introduction to Historical Books
f. How to Teach

Books that will be covered (Old Testament):
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1+2 Samuel,1+2 Kings
Psalms 41-100

Prerequistites:
CCM 311
Credits: (12)

School of Biblical Studies - Module 3: (CCM 313)

This is the last of the three courses of the School of Biblical Studies and completes the inductive study of the Old Testament and thereby the Bible, studying the books from Job to Malachi.

The subjects that will be covered are:
a. Introduction to Wisdom Literature
b. Introduction to Prophecy
c. How to Preach

The books that will be covered are:
Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, Job, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Joel, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Nahum, Obediah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Micah, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, 1+2 Chronicles, Psalms 101-150.
