The goal of Bible study should be to know God better and trust Him more.

What is The School of Biblical Studies (SBS)?
The SBS teaches people HOW to study the Bible. It is a 9 months course in which students study all 66 books of the Bible, the Word of God. He/ she learns to study the Scripture using the Inductive Bible Study rather than the Deductive method. Inductive Method: one observes what the text says and then let it shapes his beliefs. Deductive Method: one comes to the Word with established beliefs searching for support of those beliefs.
Our focus is that SBS graduates would personally experience God's love and then would reflect that love more brightly to others. The accomplishment of these goals requires a lot of hard work, digging and digging and digging into the Scriptures to discover all that we can.
What Growth Objectives Can SBS Learners Expect?
1. SBS students will develop a strong grasp of the inductive Bible study method. This will help them in personal Bible study and give them a foundation for teaching and preaching for the rest of their lives.
2. SBS students will learn to rightly and accurately handle the Word of Truth. This will help them grow in sound doctrine and understanding of the Word. Sound doctrine leads to sound living - being holy and blameless in lifestyle before God in order that His Word may not be discredited.
3. SBS students will appreciate the "big picture" of the entire Bible in its various contexts: styles of literature, historical backgrounds and time periods, and the relationship between the two Testaments. This will help them develop a balanced and holistic view of Scripture.
4. Lastly but not least, SBS students will gain an invaluable foundation in the Word of God for fulfilling the Great Commission in Singapore or beyond.
How Does SBS Achieve These Objectives?
1. By training students in the inductive methods and tools of Bible study. Students will become proficient in the use of concordances, word studies, Bible dictionaries, atlases and Bible study encyclopedias. (Note: Our medium of instruction is English). Usage of NRSV or ESV Bible.
2. By helping students understand the background of Bible books. The staff take turns lecturing on the books of the Bible, giving some historical background for each book, as well as pointing out some of the main themes or central ideas in the book. Each teacher has already completed their own initial study of the whole Bible, and has already been touched by the revelation of the great character of God that is found there.
In addition to lecturing, the staff are available for questions and to help students as they are in the learning process. The staff also evaluate the work of the students to help them to learn to use the Bible study method more effectively.
3. By giving the students a process for practicing the Inductive Method. Students take the information and tools available to them and systematically do self-study. Observation, interpretation and application are the bases for their work. Reviews happen through periodic tests and a comprehensive exam at the end of New Testament. All assignments and tests are graded.
As stated earlier, we want each student to not only grow in knowledge but also in wisdom as they learn how to live out and display all that they have learned through their study of God's word.
